Sci-fi films releasing in Fall 2021!

There are lots of sci-fi films coming to theatres in Fall 2021 but the main highlight is Denis Villeneuve’s massive Dune adaptation. Fall 2021 looks to see films releases as a whole back at full strength, and all this is because of the Covid vaccination, which allows many theatres to run in full capacity. The audience will have the choice of many films to enjoy.

Sci-fi films releasing in Fall 2021 –

Dune – Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel Dunes is one of the most famous in the sci-fi genre. The director Denis Villeneuve is coming up with the book’s film adaptation, which will be a big-budget film. It is anticipated that Villeneuve’s version will prove to be the definitive Dune adaptation. The film cast includes Jason Momoa, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, and Timothée Chalamet. The film will release on October 22, 2021, in both theatres and on HBO Max.

Ron’s Gone Wrong – This film is an animated sci-fi comedy from the new studio Locksmith Animation, and 20th Century Studios is distributing the film. Jack Dylan Grazer voices Barney. Barney is a socially awkward tween who ends up with the titular Ron, who Zach Galifianakis voices. Ron is a B-bot, an independent, robot-like, digitally connected device that acts as a friend to Barney but cannot do things correctly. The film will release on October 22, 2021.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage – Many audiences wondered if a Venom solo film that entirely disconnected the character’s origin from Spider-Man could work. Despite not impacting critics, audiences went to see Venom in 2018, leading to a huge $856 million box office haul. A sequel was coming for sure. Venom: Let There Be Carnage, after an extra year of delay due to a pandemic, is finally releasing on October 24, 2021, with new director Andy Serkis at the helm. The villain this time out is Cletus Kasady, aka Carnage, played by Woody Harrelson.

Eternals – This is the 3rd of four new MCU films arriving in 2021. From the beginning, the MCU has embraced and built its franchise on sci-fi concepts. Emerge from their secret existence among Earthlings; the film sees the titular race of ancient aliens so that they can protect the planet from their evil counterparts, the Deviants. The film will release on November 5, 2021.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife – The 2016 reboot directed by Jason Reitman, Paul Feig, the son of the original Ghostbusters, was a financial flop. Director Ivan Reitman is taking the reins of the franchise with Ghostbusters: Afterlife. For this film, the audience had to wait an extra year. The film will focus on new cast members Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd, Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard. Still, it will also return the surviving original cast in their classic role, including Annie Potts, Sigourney Weaver, Ernie Hudson, Dan Aykroyd, and Bill Murray. The film will release on November 11, 2021.
